Amanda Nicholas West is an artist who works with a variety of media, including drawing, painting, and monotype printmaking. Part of a military family, she grew up in a long series of places, including Texas, Missouri, Louisiana, Alabama, Hawaii, North Carolina (three times), South Korea (three times), and Virginia (twice).
Amanda received her MFA in Drawing from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro in 2011, and her BFA from East Carolina University in 2009. In 2012 she was the Artist in Residence at Pocosin Arts in Columbia, NC.
In recent work, she uses drawing to communicate her perceptual experiences of wooded landscapes. Created over many visits, the drawings explore ideas of time, place, and the unexpected.
Amanda is currently an Assistant Professor of Art at Bob Jones University (Greenville, SC), and teaches courses in drawing, foundations, and printmaking.
