Amanda Nicholas West, Artist

Amanda Nicholas West is an artist who works with a variety of media, including drawing, painting, and monotype printmaking. Part of a military family, she grew up in a long series of places, including Texas, Missouri, Louisiana, Alabama, Hawaii, North Carolina (three times), South Korea (three times), and Virginia (twice).

Amanda received her MFA in Drawing from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro in 2011, and her BFA from East Carolina University in 2009. In 2012 she was the Artist in Residence at Pocosin Arts in Columbia, NC. From 2016 to 2018, she was an Assistant Professor of Art at Bob Jones University (Greenville, SC), and taught courses in drawing, foundations, and printmaking.

Amanda's recent work communicates her perceptual experiences of wooded landscapes. Created plein air, often with repeated visits, the pieces explore ideas of time, place, and the unexpected.

A military wife, Amanda currently lives in Fayetteville, NC with her husband, son, and dog Maggie.
